This was a successful Design and construct project with URS as lead designer for the Fulton Hogan – HEB joint venture.  The project comprised 17km of new 4 lane motorway and a further 6km of upgrading the SH2 corridor.  The project included seven bridges including the 150m long Kaituna River Bridge.

The major challenge on this project was the very poor ground conditions, these required various types of ground improvement and surcharging to address settlement and liquefaction potential.
